Someone’s Been Peeing in the Gene Pool Again

How else to explain a comments like this, captured by Dana Milbank in Tuesday’s WAPO:

“I don’t care too much for Obama,” Maria Norgren, the daughter and granddaughter of steelworkers…

“I don’t even think he’s American,” added her husband, Edward, who lost his job when the steel mills closed…

“His father’s from Nigeria, right?” asked Maria, wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers T-shirt.

Kenya, actually. But the point is the same: The Norgrens, who backed Al Gore in 2000 and John Kerry in 2004, will vote for Hillary Clinton on Tuesday. And if Obama wins the nomination, these Democrats say they’ll vote for Republican John McCain, even though they want an end to the war in Iraq, where their soldier-son is about to start his third tour

[…]

“I think [Obama] just wants to be president because he’s black,” said Tim Hetrick, smoking a cigarette as he waited for a bus among the crumbling structures of downtown McKeesport. A Democrat, he’s thinking about voting for McCain in November.

Meanwhile, large percentages of Dems indulge themselves in another form of suicidal ideation– staying home on election day if their particular candidate loses the nomination.

Voting with your brainstem– bad for America, bad for the planet.

Democracy, while an ideal, is a product of civilization, not of evolution. Go slowly! select carefully! for the dangers of democracy are:

1. Glorification of mediocrity.
2. Choice of base and ignorant rulers.
3. Failure to recognize the basic facts of social evolution.
4. Danger of universal suffrage in the hands of uneducated and indolent majorities..

  1. Sherry, absolutely right; the “horrid” part for me is, where in hell do we find competent judges? to tell citizens, “Sorry, you’re too stupid to vote.” Bradda, yep they have a right to stay stupid, and society has a right to fine the shit outa them for the dead weight they add to the ship of state; and when they do pass the standardized voter test, and they don’t exercise their suffrage, they get fined for that too. I’m just ventin’ . . . :-\

  2. I was talking to a friend the other day about this ignorance. We still know people who get chain emails with this type of bs. If people don’t want to be informed on any level then I guess they should be allowed to keep their head in the sand. They just shouldn’t be allowed to breed.

  3. Makes you just want to institute intelligence tests to get a ticket to vote don’t you think? As horrid as I generally view that kind of thing, boy sometimes I just want to pull out my hair at the insanity that passes for brains in some folks heads.
