Senators Obama and McCain listen attentively as moderator Schieffer explains the death jars.

Seems like ages already, but it was just a week ago that moderator Bob Schieffer set the tone for the third and final presidential debate, by presenting ceremonial death jars to Senators Barack Obama, and John McCain.

The Egyptian jars were traditionally used to hold the stomach and intestines of deceased Pharaohs; Schieffer explained that if either candidate were intentionally or accidentally disemboweled during the debate, the  jar might save their political career.  And, as it turned out, when McCain had his ass handed to him by Obama, he quickly stuffed the remains into the jackal-headed orifice before leaving the stage. Obama returned his falcon-headed jar to Schieffer unused.  Now you know.
