While there is solid neurological evidence that conservatives are wired differently from liberals (use different parts of their brain to handle things like cognitive dissonance) , that isn't a problem, per se. Conservatives are to liberals what brakes are to gas peddles. (We even see this distinction in the Urantia Book between "the angels of progress" and "the religious guardians", or as they are known in the NT, "the angels of the churches" who, between them, are responsible for seeing that which is old and worth preserving is transmitted to the new and emerging, or <em>in-formation.</em> And even they don't always agree!) But we are seeing something different, now, something pathological. My guess is that once having obtained near absolute power under Bush, the warping began, and having lost it (to a half-black man, no less) it's driving them over the edge. Fasten your seat belt. I see through them easily enough. But I live in a deep red state, where people still defend Bushco and their policies. They believe everything that comes out of a rethuglican'ts mouth. If a Democrat came out with black and white, easily seen proof of something, they still would not believe the Dems. That's why this crap worries me. I don't understand why Obama won't just pass Health Care with 51 votes. Bush used to do it all the time. How can Obama even take bi-partisanship seriously when the rethugs have come right out and tried to destroy everything he does? They will never cooperate with the Democrats.
