Read It To Believe It

The Urantia Papers— the “fifth epochal revelation”— constitute the most recent presentation of truth to the entire mortal population of Urantia.  The “papers” differ from all previous revelations propounded in the spiritual realm, in that they are not the work of a single universe personality, but a composite presentation by many beings.

“But no revelation short of the attainment of the Universal Father can ever be complete. All other celestial ministrations are no more than partial, transient, and practically adapted to local conditions in time and space. While such admissions as this may possibly detract from the immediate force and authority of all revelations, the time has arrived on Urantia when it is advisable to make such frank statements, even at the risk of weakening the future influence and authority of this, the most recent of the revelations of truth to the mortal races of Urantia.

And what other sorts of “frank statements” is it advisable to make about the nature of this revelation?

Namely that it is a divine revelation.
That like all the religions of revelation, it is characterized by a belief in a Deity of final value, and that it possesses a superlative concept of the survival of individual personality identity after death that is at once authoritative, and profound.

That Revelatory religion is propounded by the real spiritual world;  it is the response of the super-intellectual cosmos to the mortal hunger to believe in, and depend upon, the universal Deities.  The religions of men,  in particular Christianity,  are evolutionary religions, which picture the circuitous gropings of humanity in quest of truth;  revelatory religion is that very truth.

Do take some time to discover it for yourself;  you simply have to read it to believe it.

In my senior year in high school, after an inspiring conversation with my sister who found the book on a bookshelf in a house she was renting, I went to the local book store and bought it. I spent collage years trying to share and explain it but getting mostly blank stares and resistance I eventually stopped trying. In more than 25 years I still have never, ever, met anyone in person who has admitted to reading it, or know about it.
    not one.
…I guess, thank God for the internet.

    1. Hi Vink, Let me know where you are and I’ll arrange to meet you so we can put an end to that awful stat. But dude, you should’ve checked out a Urantia conference years go— you could’ve met hundreds of readers all at once!
I hear you, though; it’s not for everybody. But don’t give up; study with your sister, and hang in there.

LOL Very kind of you to offer Terry. Yeah, probably should have made an effort to join study groups and conferences but all the literature back in the day about law suits and copyrights just turned me off, (who needs more politics), so a quiet read was more enjoyable.
But where as I admire the slow growth I still find it perplexing that you don’t run into it more.

        1. You don’t run into more because “Slow Growth” was officially “No Growth”— for far too long. As distasteful as all the litigiousness was, it freed the Fifth Epochal Revelation, and millions of contacts around the world are already paying dividends of spiritual progress in the lives of many people.
It’s a hard slog on Urantia; but it’s OUR slog.
