Devolving Animal Human Hybrids

Monkie ODonnell: Human Hybrid
Christine O’Donnell asks: “Why aren’t monkeys still evolving into humans?”

The short answer is that the common ancestor to both humans and monkeys went extinct millions of years ago, after which monkeys and humans went their separate evolutionary ways.  But the more pressing question is: How come humans are devolving into complete idiots like Christine O’Donnell? Next thing you know she’ll be warning us about animal human hybrids, like putting human brains into mice.

Oh, wait…

COD is living proof of the failure of our educational system, currently ranked twenty first in the world in science, according to the new movie Waiting For Superman.

God forbid the COD piece ever gets elected to the Senate,  but if she does, expect the Rethugs to appoint her to the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee.  After all, evolution and creationism, like gravity, are only theories that deserve equal footing. (It’s also a form of political payback for the support of the religious fundies.)

And don’t expect the M$M to raise an eyebrow. Back in the day when they actually practiced journalism and not stenography, they would regularly dismiss these kind of false equivalencies. But having devolved to the “fair and balanced” standards of Fux News network (who has triple the viewership of CNN), they are only too happy to give airheads like O’Donnell and Sarah Palin copius amounts of air time to boost their ratings.

The dumbing down of the American people begins with a totally dysfunctional primary education and continues into adult life as newsmodel anchors and bloviating pundits replace incompetent classroom teachers. A basic knowledge of civics and critical thinking skills are no longer required, only fat and happy consumers loyal to the corporate brand and political party, increasingly a distinction without a difference as the effects of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision enables corporations to buy themselves a permanent governing majority.

That’s a vicious cycle that can only end in ruin.

The political or administrative form of a government is of little consequence provided it affords the essentials of civil progress — liberty, security, education, and social co-ordination. It is not what a state is but what it does that determines the course of social evolution. And after all, no state can transcend the moral values of its citizenry as exemplified in their chosen leaders. Ignorance and selfishness will insure the downfall of even the highest type of government.
