Coming Soon: URANTIAN SOJOURN

Urantian Sojourn
Not hot off the presses:  Urantian Sojourn Magazine will debut soon, watch this spot. It’s a back to our roots via the blog thing, and yeah, we’re excited— just not blessed with enough time to getter done a month in advance.

The original Urantian Sojourn Magazine was born in the tumultuous summer of 1990, as a satirical-political spear in the side of a Urantia Foundation hell-bent on controlling the distribution of The Urantia Book.  They totally freaked that someone would actually give the text of the book away on a computer disk and thereby destroy their power to control a mighty revelation and make them irrelevant at the same time. . . but that was another time and another story.

The “New Story” however, is still the content of the fifth epochal revelation, i.e., the Urantia Papers. As you can see by the cover above, our new iteration of the Sojourn will still cover the geo-spiritual-politics of Urantia, but with an increased emphasis on the indissoluble link of revelation with our spiritual progress as individuals, as a people, and as a planet.

Times are tense on Urantia, and we think they’re going to stay that way for quite some time.  We think the need for the insights of genuine revelation grow more critically important with each passing day, as we see the very real prospect of the gains of progressive, cultural creatives in the United States being threatened by the retrogressive propaganda of fear and traditional outworn “values” of selfishness.

It’s time to get wise.  We hope you’ll join us in our efforts to illuminate the truth, beauty and goodness of divine values, spreading the message of hope and the power of love to a troubled world, but a world that is still quivering on the brink of one of it’s most amazing and enthralling epochs.  Let’s give it a shove, aye?

Urantia is now quivering on the very brink of one of its most amazing and enthralling epochs of social readjustment,  moral quickening, and spiritual enlightenment. The teachings of Jesus, even though greatly modified, survived the mystery cults of their birthtime, the ignorance and superstition of the dark ages, and are even now slowly triumphing over the materialism, mechanism, and secularism of the twentieth century. And such times of great testing and threatened defeat are always times of great revelation.

Urantia society can never hope to settle down as in past ages. The social ship has steamed out of the sheltered bays of established tradition and has begun its cruise upon the high seas of evolutionary destiny; and the soul of man, as never before in the world’s history, needs carefully to scrutinize its charts of morality and painstakingly to observe the compass of religious guidance. The paramount mission of religion as a social influence is to stabilize the ideals of mankind during these dangerous times of transition from one phase of civilization to another, from one level of culture to another.

Paganized and socialized Christianity stands in need of new contact with the uncompromised teachings of Jesus; it languishes for lack of a new vision of the Master’s life on earth. A new and fuller revelation of the religion of Jesus is destined to conquer an empire of materialistic secularism and to overthrow  a world sway of mechanistic naturalism. Urantia is now quivering on the very brink of one of its most amazing and enthralling epochs of social readjustment, moral quickening, and spiritual enlightenment.

Religion does need new leaders, spiritual men and women who will dare to depend solely on Jesus and his incomparable teachings. If Christianity persists in neglecting its spiritual mission while it continues to busy itself with social and material problems, the spiritual renaissance must await the coming of these new teachers of Jesus’ religion who will be exclusively devoted to the spiritual regeneration of men. And then will these spirit-born souls quickly supply the leadership and inspiration requisite for the social, moral, economic, and political reorganization of the world.

The modern age will refuse to accept a religion which is inconsistent with facts and out of harmony with its highest conceptions of truth, beauty, and goodness.  The hour is striking for a rediscovery of the true and original foundations of present-day distorted and compromised Christianity–the real life and teachings of Jesus.

        1. Thanks, Db. (BTW, we’re always looking for excellent guest writers… just sayin’ )
But it’s official; I’ve developed a reflexive mental red flag when I see your links, the voice in my head suddenly sounds like Jon Stewart talking as high-pitched-scared as he can go, telling me that I’m going to squirm when I see what you’ve wrought. . . :-O
          Stay warm.

  1. I’m a confirmed Roman Catholic for good or ill, but I don’t figure to have any corner on rightness, and from what I have been privileged to read in Urantia book, this belief system is as rational as any I’ve come across and I’ve studied a few at least. I honestly am always willing to read and learn, and frankly there is much that is most appealing in what I have learned so far about Urantia theology. I am so looking forward to the magazine!

    1. Thanks, Sherry. More than anything, The Urantia Book brings one to the realization that we are all ascendant spirit beings who may accept the gift of an eternal existence— if we so choose.

While still the planet’s most important secret, The Urantia Book will sometime become recognized throughout the world and by all religions as our most important personal orientation of our eternal universe existence.

BTW, we won’t ever forget your friendly enthusiasm when we first started this blog, and you will always have a special place in our intertoobs heart. And of course your thought provoking articles were, and are, an inspirational challenge to answer your great questions and thoughtful insights. Still we hope to see you here more often. 😉
